Querencia To Host Anchor Fundraising Event for Los Cabos Children's Foundation

Querencia confirmed today it will host the second annual Fred Duckett Challenge, March 8 - 10, in support of the Los Cabos Children's Foundation. The LCCF is the area resource for medical, educational and humanitarian assistance to children and their families in need. The event promises to be an extravaganza of world class golf, entertainment and camaraderie and will include celebrities such as Amy Grant, Vince Gil and CBS golf personality, David Feherty. "We are thrilled to play a key role in the heroic work of this organization," says Jorge Carrera, Querencia President and CEO. The inaugural Duckett Challenge raised over $1.1 MM in proceeds.

Querencia Commissions Architect Gil Hanse to Design Golf Course No. 2

Querencia announced today it has selected Gil Hanse as the lead architect for its second golf course. Querencia is home to a Fazio course now, opened in 2000 as Cabo's only private country club. The design team at Querencia will also include Jim Wagner, Hanse’s design partner as well as collaborator, Geoff Shackelford. “The last time this talented team worked together on a project,” said Jorge Carrera, Querencia President & CEO, “they produced the award-winning Rustic Canyon." Since 2003, Rustic Canyon is consistently ranked by Golf Week, Golf Magazine and Golf Digest as a top public course in the nation. In short, said Carrera, Gil represents the next generation of up-and-coming architects and we are thrilled Querencia is his first project in the region.

Carrera also praises Hanse's minimalist design style as a perfect fit for Querencia. Minamalists seek to preserve the integrity of the landscape and find holes that occur naturally in the terrain. "Hanse's courses are often walkable, too," Carrera says, "a style that symbolizes the close-knit and casual lifestyle here where things are simple."

A 1989 Cornell graduate, Hanse was one of Tom Doak's earliest students and represents a back-to-the-basics movement in golf course design. "The desert, mountains, elevation changes and other unspoiled elements of the topography lend themselves naturally to an interesting golf experience," says Hanse.

Querencia Unveils Plans for Beach Club

Querencia announced it has been granted access to approximately 15,000 square feet of beachfront property adjacent to Acapulquito Cove in the Los Cabos corridor. Upon completion, the full service beach club will include a casual outdoor bar and dining area, a pool, spa, fire pit and enclave of private beach Cabañas. "We believe the addition of a world-class, full-service Beach Club further solidifies our market position as the premier private community and club in all of Los Cabos," said Jorge Carrera, Company Leader.
